Based on the CV and essay that you have submitted upon registration, the country assignment will be done through a careful internal procedure. If you want to be assigned to a certain country, it would be advantageous to write the optional essay and imply it on the essay that you write. However, submitting no essay does not mean that you will receive any disadvantage in the assignment process.
